Story description

When a little star fox peeks through the window at night, a young boy sets off with him on a magical journey to help him find his way home. Together, they pass through groves of singing trees, listen to the tales of the brook, and climb the highest hill, where the starlight lives. This is a gentle story about how friendship, courage, and a desire to help turn any adventure into a little miracle.

The Boy and the Starry Fox Cub (book excerpt)

In a small house at the foot of a hill, there lived a boy named Damir. More than anything in the world, he loved gazing at the stars! He had even read the biggest book about them in the entire library. And, of course, he dreamed that one day, when he grew up, he would surely fly to a star far, far away.

"I wonder," Damir thought as he looked at the night sky, "what do stars look like if you see them from the Moon instead of Earth? Or from Mars? What if they look like little clouds there?"

He had seen many photos of space, but they were mostly of planets. For some reason, it never occurred to anyone to take a photo of the stars themselves. But that would be so interesting!

And so, one day, he was sitting on the windowsill looking at the sky. The stars had all lit up, and it was time for bed, when suddenly Damir heard someone crying.

The boy listened closely: what if he had imagined it? Who would think of crying under someone else's window, and so late at night! But he hadn't imagined it.

He leaned out of the window and saw a little fox sitting right in his mother’s flowerbed. But it wasn't an ordinary fox—it was the most extraordinary one. The little fox was glowing, and it was crying.
